Decouvrir à Paris

PARIS SKETCHBOOK

Ambiguous... Careless... Disastrous... Lively... Colorful... Experimental... Personal... Matured... Evolved... The Paris Class with John Clapp has been more than the experience I could have ever anticipated. So much happened within that month, it felt more like 3 months! We were opened to many new ideas and approaching artwork will never be the same for me.

(thanks Leann and Tiff for the photos)

I am so thankful for the other 13 students in the class as well... they were very helpful when circulating thoughts and advice. We were a very close tight-knit group and wouldn't have wanted any other way! And of course, thank you John Clapp... again I am impressed by your sensitivity towards the subject and all the helpful art and fatherly lectures and advice you gave during the trip.

Looking through my sketchbook back home, I realized I liked more of my pages than I orginally thought. Below are pages that I thoroughly enjoyed sketching... whether or not it was a great page or a failed page, it was still artwork that is me.

Corwin sleeping on the plane to Paris

I Wake Up at 4 in the Morning Now

video

Long, hard work and patience pays off sometimes. I really didn't think I was going to finish, I might not even be finished at that... It was very challenging (Just what I wanted) and time consuming. My sleep and my goodbye to my roommates were sacrificed... so this film goes to them haha. Art 114 Sack Pantomime. Enjoy!

Wanderer

I did this quick painting despite of the fact that I am behind on my sack pantomime. So i don't know anything about digital painting, so any advice would be appreciated... :)

And my final reel for my Maya animation class. I plan to retake the class 2 more times so I can get a lot better! But here's a semester's worth.

...Wish me luck,.... that sack pantomime...

One Hundred Fourteen 2

David Colman gave me a critique on my elephant drawings. I didn't tell him that these were zoo studies and not character designs, but his advice was still very helpful!

video

I revised a little bit of the test and cleaned-up a few frames. I would try and finish it completely but it's now time to concentrate on my sack pantomime! Thank you Jon Magram for helping me with this test.

One Hundred Fourteen

Went to Oakland Zoo last weekend for 114 assignment, I did this drawing for fun, but I think I'll turn it in...

This is a rough of my Character Walk, I plan to finish it with clothes and facial expressions this weekend with what strength I have left.

Based on the reference of NinJei Lee, I had to complete a dynamic action test. It was just a one-pass animation test to practice aniamting a full human figure.

Inniation into Maya Civilization

video

video

This is my first semester animating in both 2d and 3d since getting in the program at SJSU. I'm still learning a lot in Maya but here are some recent test I did. They're not finished but I need a break from them before making the picky edits.

More to come, been working hard this semester...

Life Goal #123: Completed

It was much bigger looking when I was small kid... last time I went to Science Academy, but nonetheless a magnificent specimen. Too bad it's only a cast.

A Tale of Three Orphan Wolves

Here is my Tidepool that I turned in as my final for 113B. It is the largest thing I've ever painted! The piece was inspired by a story I saw on a nature program about three sibling orphan wolves (they do not belong to a pack). The image itself takes place in the Alaskan tundra and shows three wolves right at the moment of tripping a poor caribou. The rest of the herd has escaped towards the light, what I called Land of Salvation.

My experience: For a start, I found a new appreciation for illustrators. The thought process to develop an effective composition (design, color, clarity...) is something I wish everyone could experience so that we can give more respect for those that achieve it professionally. Painting I still find difficult. I struggle most with values and the color green... But overall I'm happy with it. I don't think I will ever finish it... time for something new. But just maybe...

oh, NO people or man-made objects allowed... but some rules were set to be broken...

Palin made a guest appearance...

And a rubber duck... Just for fun, nothing else to it.
